Blues fans gathered together as musicains came to the Cypress Grill for an afternoon of entertainment.
It all was to honor Paul Gabriel as he gets ready to head to Memphis for the Blues Music Awards. He is nominated for “Best New Artist.” Bandmates held forth with a full schedule of talent. Fun and food was also added to the mix,
First up were the Boogie Boys, Nick and Buzzy.
Mark joined them on harmonica for a fast paced Folsom Prison Blues.
The door was busy and Ray was there to greet everyone.
Then came a band that is always a pleasure to get up this way, the Mojomatics.
Their regular guitar player couldn’t make it, so they had an honorary member sit in.
The music really moved along
Now the audience was picking up and the atmosphere was good time. Of course blues wasn’t the only thing people were enjoying.
Some people took advantageof the good weather and sat on the patio.
Now get set and hold on because the Swamp Shaka Band was coming to the stage.
Mark sat in for a bit.
And I was reminded of the effort those harp players give. Just catch the expression as he works or check out Manny’s arms below.
Everyone knows by now that I didn’t have the only camera. Pictures abound.
Now back to Swamp Shaka Band.
It was a great day as the crowd can attest. And it is always good to meet up with old friends that have the blues as our common bond.
Paul seemed to have a good time and the fans all wished him well.
Some of the other players
Good luck to Paul in Memphis.
