Saturday dawned another nice day to listen to the Blues.
Christone “Kingfish” Ingram started the day. He is the new young guitar slinger on the block. I would get used to his playing and then he would offer up something new.
Watermelon Slim was on between sets. He is one of the best characters the blues has to offer. I enjoy his sound and you know he always has a story or two. He took time to honor those who served in the Armed Forces.
Davina & the Vagabonds, yes a little New Orleans music
What is New Orleans music without a parasol?
Lil Ed & The Blues Imperials, always energetic.
Selwyn Birchwood, the young man keeps growing. Talented and charming
Blues fans traveled afar to be here
Tab Benoit, he has been way ahead in warning about the destruction of wetlands and its problems. He reminded the audience of the problems in Baton Rouge.
Plenty to do for the young and adventrous
Watermelon Slim says good night
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, continued a great night with a solid set.
The evening ended with a fireworks show.
Now I often photograph tees for a number of reasons. They are an easy way to start a conversation. The man sitting in front of me had a shirt that said it all.
