Pennsylvania Blues Fest – Friday

_dsc9940-2

It is the 25th year of Blues in the Poconos.  Always a good time as people from all over attend.  The BluesBeatNews Blog will cover the acts in three posts, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Then, two more for the evening concerts.  With so many things going on, I am adding another Blog to cover the people I saw.  Using my 500 mm lens I also took a number of crowd shots.  The Main Stage and a comfortable seat kept me away from the Tent Stage but I will list the acts.

Friday from 8 pm to midnight, it is Mikey Junior’s Blues Revue.  Always exciting and fast paced, it is a fun start to the weekend.

As you can see, the blues just kept coming.  Fun in the crowd and one talent after another.  Of course stylistic differences made sure you were paying attention.  A couple of the band members did a lot of support work.

Spent some time with Mike and the band when they were in Memphis for the IBC.

Then The Buicks came on.  A long established band, you could just feel their years together,

An evening surprise was the appearance of Ronnie Earl.  He was scheduled for a Master Class on Saturday and to close the Fest on Sunday.  He came in and shared the stage with some of the earlier players and hung in for the closing jam.
